Town (titled zps_town in the game files) is a medium-large square shaped survival map set in a small, cobble stone road town during a dark night. The map consists of several key locations and buildings which contain most of the item spawns. Many of the buildings can be entered by the player and only a few of the buildings are purely aesthetic, unlike many maps. Zombie Panic Source is a first person action game. The dedicated server component can be run as a Windows Service using FireDaemon Pro, which allows you to start the dedicated server automatically at boot prior to login, start multiple instances of the dedicated server and more.

Zombie Panic! Source (ZPS) is a cooperative, survival-horror Half-Life 2first-person shootermodification. It is the sequel to the popular Half-LifemodificationZombie Panic. Set in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, players start as a small group of survivors attempting to stay alive. Each map will have its own objectives to complete and win the round or survive by a period of time.
Initially released on December 28, 2007 via ModDB page as a public beta (v1.0) and later re-released for Steam via Steamworks in October 8, 2008 as a free-to-play game.

Gameplay
At the start of each round, players can either choose to join the human team or volunteer to be the first zombie. If no one volunteers the game will pick one human randomly, and the game begins! The starter zombie's goal is to kill the humans while the human goal is to stay alive as long as possible, complete objectives, or even wipe out all the zombies. The catch is that when a human dies he will simply join the ranks of the undead, now ready to finish off his old living teammates. The humans can't tell by the player list who is alive and who is undead.
Eventually, there will only be one survivor still standing if everything goes wrong, his back against the wall while facing the animated corpses of his former allies. In a survival round, the zombies team only has a certain number of reinforcements (lives), and when a zombie is killed they lose a life from the counter. However, when a human is killed they gain 1 life. When the zombies run out of lives, the remaining survivors win the round by killing off the remaining undead left on the map. In objective rounds, zombies get an unlimited number of lives while the humans must complete a variety of map-based objectives to win.
Human Abilities
- Speed - A zombie can only run at about 80% of the top speed of a human player. Though, the more weaponry and ammo a human picks up, the more it will slow him down, making him an easy target for the undead. If they are carrying nothing, a human can easily outrun a zombie. Watch out so you don't get cornered...
- Weapons - The humans have a wide selection of weapons to use for defending themselves, like firearms, explosives and melee weapons. It is essential for humans to locate weapons and ammo around the map in order to survive, since they only spawn with a random melee weapon and handgun scavenging is a must. Remember that inventory space is limited and hogging weapons will merely slow a survivor down, so sharing with teammates is a must!
- Numbers - At the beginning of the round, there are only from 1-3 zombies, depending on how populated the server is. Everyone else is a survivor. This means that they can easily watch each other's backs and provide cover fire. However, once their ammo starts to run dry and they begin to squabble amongst themselves for the few precious clips of ammo available...
- Communication - Instead of typing messages to each other (occupying busy hands), which can be really dangerous when the zombies are lurking in the shadows, the humans have the ability to communicate by voice commands. There is a menu with several commonly-used commands that can help the survivors to organize a defense, trade ammunition and request help.
- Panic! - Drop everything but what is in your hand and flee! This grants a temporary speed boost, allowing for a quick getaway, but use it wisely. More often than not, panicking just staves off a survivor's inevitable doom.
Zombie abilities
- Regeneration - Over time, zombies regenerate hit points, making it more difficult for survivors to make the undead dead.
- Carrier - The first Zombie of the round differ a lot from the other undead - he looks different, sounds different, and has abilities that the average zombie can only dream of. He is the Carrier! With the power to infect people (10% infection chance per hit by default) he will cause panic and paranoia amongst the living. He also has the ability to roar, summoning other zombies to his aid.
- Persistence - Zombies might seem to die often, but they won't give up. They just keep re-spawning over and over until your pistol runs out of bullets, your back is to the wall, and there is no escape.
- Numbers - Later on in the game, as the undead ranks swell with fresh dead, the last few humans will find their superior weaponry of small comfort for the hordes of zombies closing in.
- Zombie Vision - Zombies can't use flashlights, so they have the ability to use Zombie Vision. Z-vision works in a way that it brightens up any possible light source in a room to make it more viewable. More importantly, when humans get tired, they start to glow blood red, making it easier for a zombie to track their prey. To prevent games of hide and seek a survivor who just sits still will also start to glow red through sheer terror of the unknown.

This guide will assist you in getting all of the achievements as well as teach you a thing or two about the game.
Achievements
This guide will entail all that is required in obtaining all of the achievements for Zombie Panic: Source. Most of the achievements are not difficult and you will most likely get just from playing. Some require a little preparation, but I am here to help. I should also mention that achievements are disabled on custom servers. You can find this out by looking at the server list and it should tell you the current version of the game then next to it, it will say custom if it is a custom server.Fighting For A Greater Cause : Complete any objective map for the first time.
Simply play any of the official maps from the original game and either survive as a survivor or win as a zombie.
Just to list them for those that do not know the official maps:

ZPS – Survival ZPO – Objective ZPH – Hardcore
I should also mention something else that might help players understand the guide a little better. The maps are divided into three different game modes; survival, objective, and hardcore. Survival is a game mode that limits zombies to a certain number of lives based on how many people are playing and once the zombies run out of lives, they lose. However, if the zombies kill all of the humans, zombies win. Objective mode has the humans perform a number of tasks and if done successfully, the humans win. In this mode, zombies have unlimited lives and if they kill all humans, they win. Lastly, hardcore mode gives zombies 99 lives and instead of one carrier (whitey), zombies get five carriers and the infection rate is dramatically increased. The zombies simply have to hunt down the survivors to win. The humans however have to survive for a designated amount of time, if a human is slain, the counter goes up. Something else I should mention is that when you play Objective maps, the first screen you see when you join the game, it will tell you the Objectives on the map.
A Survivor Is Born : Survive any official survival map for the first time.
Play as survivor on any official map and win, that simple.
Born Leader : As the carrier, lead a group of 5 or more zombies.
This one is easy to do, but of course requires a number of players to do it. It should come naturally as you play. You must be the carrier and at least five other zombies must be close by (about melee distance).
Anti-Vaccination : Win a round on Biotec as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Biotec and win.
Dead In The Water :Win a round on Aquatica as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Aquatica and win.
Unstoppable Claws :As the carrier, kill three survivors in the same life.
There are not a lot of tips here since this requires some skill (or dumb players) to get this one. If you have been playing ZP:S a while, this one should not be too hard. If not, practice by picking zombie and thinking about how to ambush a survivor or how to avoid getting shot in the head.
Brainz COMBO To Go :Win a round on Cinema as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Cinema and win.
Forceful Admittance :Win a round on Asylum as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Asylum and win.
More Than A Little Turbulence :Win a round on Zomboeing as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Zomboeing and win.
Silent Cruise :Win a round on Tanker as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Tanker and win.
Bad Crops :Win a round on Harvest as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Harvest and win.
Dead Snow :Win a round on Frozenheart as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Frozenheart and win.
Fallout :Win a round on Shreddingfield as a zombie.
There are two ways to do this one actually. You can either kill all of the survivors or if the survivors take too long or don’t do the objectives, the place is bombed and zombies win.
Party Crasher :Win a round on Clubzombo as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Clubzombo and win.
Taking Executive Action :Complete Keretti as a survivor once.
Press f1(to spawn as a human) and complete the objectives on Objective Keretti.
Streets Of Decay :Win a round on Survival Town as a zombie.
A little note about this achievement, it clearly says survival Town as if there are two Town maps, but there is only one. Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Town and win.
Out Of Service :Win a round on Thrillville as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Thrillville and win.
Work Strike :Win a round on Objective Keretti as a zombie
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Objective Keretti and win.

Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Survival Corpsington and win.
Graveyard Guardian :Win a round on Deadend as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Deadend and win.
Settling In :Win a round on Objective Corpsington as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Objective Corpsington and win.
It’s For Your Own Good :As a survivor, kill and infected survivor before he/she turns into a zombie.
This should happen naturally if you pay attention who gets hurt by the carrier. On normal servers, the infection rate is 10%, on Hardcore, it is higher though. Just play and watch for whitey, once he hits someone, be cautious of that survivor. The infected survivor will turn after about a minute, so whack them with a melee (to save ammo if they aren’t infected) and if you hear them get hurt, they are infected.
Krueger :Win a round on Nightmare as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Nightmare and win.
Introduced To The Fold :As the carrier, infect three survivors in the same round.
This can be done on Objective and Survival maps, but this is done easiest on Hardcore since the infection rate is higher and there are more carriers.
Changing Sides :After being infected, kill a survivor right after turning into a zombie. This achievement can be easy or it can be hard. Sometimes, a carrier will leave you alone if you are infected or they will just kill you, so be prepared. So, if you do get infected and whitey doesn’t kill you, just stick close to your fellow survivors and kill one after you turn (change occurs after about a minute).
New Residents : Win a round on Haunted as a zombie.
Hit f2(to spawn as a zombie) and play a round on Haunted and win.
You Need This More Than I Do : Share a fully loaded heavy firearm with a teammate needing.
This achievement is done best if you are playing with a friend since most people don’t even know how to callout for ammo or weapons (psst press and hold x or c for the callout menu). So, what happens is that you need to get a heavy firearm (MP5, AK47, M4, Winchester, Remy 570, Revolver, and make sure they are fully loaded). Then the other player will use the need a weapon callout then press ‘e’ or the use key on them and you should get it.
Cading Up : As a Survivor, barricade 150 times.
This achievement is more time consuming than difficult. Throughout the game, you will find red hammers and they are called Barricade Hammers. With these hammers you can place one board per hammer. You can choose between short or long boards by pressing mouse 2 and you can change the angle by pressing ‘r’ or the reload key. Some maps have more barricades than others, usually Survival maps have more.
Melee Master :Win any round using only melee weapons (requires at least one melee kill).
This one is actually a little broken, I got the achievement by getting a melee kill as well as several kills with guns and survived. So, you can try to do it like the achievement says or just get one melee kill then use your gun to survive the rest of the round.
Multiple Personalities :Play a full round as every ZP:S character.
This one is easy, just go to the settings and turn the character to random and you should get it naturally.
Kobe! :Kill three zombies with one single grenade.
This one is pretty hard to do and I don’t have it, but I have done it before they had achievements. The thing that makes it difficult is that grenades are not that common, they either do a lot of damage or a little, then just practicing how to throw them. If you want my best solution, play a map with atleast one grenade and be the last one alive. Barricade yourself in a small room with one grenade and wait for them to come for you (make some noise if you have to). Then wait until the zombies are about to break in the room and pull the pin. Just wait and the grenade will detonate after about five seconds and as long as there are three zombies, they should die if they are right next to you.
Sharing Is Caring! :Share a full box of ammo with a teammate needing.
This one can be done similarly to You Need This More Than I Do. Have your friend callout for ammo and press ‘b’ or the drop ammo key. Also, make sure that you have your drop amount set to “full magazine” which can be changed by pressing ‘m’ or the change ammo amount key.
Get To Da Choppa! :Complete Biotec as a survivor once.
Press f1(to spawn as a human) and complete the objectives on Biotec.
ZPS Or GPS? :As the carrier, use ‘roar’ ability 250 times.
This achievement is easy to do, just takes way too long to do. Here is why, I have done some testing on this achievement and it seems that regardless how many times you roar, it will only count one roar per life which is not how it should be. So, you simply press ‘r’ or the reload key to roar as whitey. The sprint bar will turn yellow, that is how you know that you are roaring. While roaring, other zombies will see a yellow outline of you from anywhere on the map to help them know where you are or the survivors are. Also, survivors are alerted to you because you will make grunts and growls while roaring. All you have to do is just play as the carrier A LOT and you will eventually get it.
Deep Blue :Complete Aquatica as a survivor once.
Press f1(to spawn as a human) and complete the objectives on Aquatica.
Whitey’s Right Claw :As a zombie, have a total of 100 kill assists.
This can be done quite easily, just takes time to do. Also, I believe you can do this as the carrier. To get a kill assist, you have to do damage to a survivor within a certain amount of time before his/her death. So, if you whack a survivor then let another zombie finish them off, you should see that there are two names in the kill feed. It should look like this (person that killed the survivor) + (Person that did damage to the survivor last) killed (the unlucky one).
Feeding Frenzy :As a zombie, assist in killing two survivors while in berserk mode.
This requires some setting up since getting a full berserk bar is not always easy if you happen to die and lose it. To gain extra stamina for your sprint bar, you have to hit survivors. Normally the bar is full and colored white when you spawn. After hitting survivors enough times in a single life, it will fill a second time and turn red. Now that it is completely full and red, when you hit the sprint button, you will move and attack much faster for a short time. You should hear your zombie make a strange growl.
Rest In Pieces :Blow yourself up along with 3 zombies using an IED.
This achievement is about as difficult as the Kobe! achievement. IEDs are not that common, but they are much stronger and have a larger explosion radius than grenades. If you follow the same method as Kobe!, you should get this one no problem.
World Traveler :Play a full round on all of the official maps.
This one is easy to do, just takes time to complete. I listed all of the official maps above to help you as to which ones to play. Also, you can complete a round as either zombie or survivor and it will count towards this achievement. A little tip that will help you keep track of which ones you have played and have not played. There are two achievements for every official map, one for survivor and one for zombie.

Part-Time Ship Mechanic :Complete Murksville as a survivor once.
Press f1(to spawn as a human) and survive a round on Murksville.
Broad Side Of A Barn : Complete Harvest as a survivor once.
This achievement is absolutely infuriating because it is broken and it just works sometimes and doesn’t work other times. If you go through the objectives and even if just one survivor doesn’t make it to the truck and dies, zombies win. So, everyone on the human team except one could make it to the truck and you will still lose, don’t know why it is like that, but I think it is a little glitch because it wasn’t always that way. Also, I have seen people get the achievement for this by being the last survivor alive and make it to the truck, but he did not jump in it and died, boom, got the achievement. So, just play around with it because it is not working properly; I just got lucky.
Almost Below Zer0 :Complete Frozenheart as a survivor once.
Press f1(to spawn as a human) and survive a round on Frozenheart.
More Safer Than Ever :Complete Objective Corpsington as a survivor once.
Press f1(to spawn as a human) and survive a round on Objective Corpsington.
Deconstruction :As a zombie, destroy 50 barricades.
This should come naturally, it just takes a little time. I should state that barricades in this achievement are boards that survivors put up, nothing else. Also, you have to be the one to break the board, not someone else. Another tip on this achievement, if you can jump over the board, you can land on the board and break it instantly rather than slapping it about 8 times.
